Series 500
Do you really know the S&P 500? Prove it.
A company appears — type its ticker from memory. 15 seconds each, one wrong answer ends your run.
One round, no account needed.
A company name appears. Type the ticker and hit Enter. The answer is verified server-side — no hints, no guessing the UI.
Run the Index →Random order. One miss ends it. 15 seconds.
Each run shuffles the entire active index. One wrong answer — or a timeout — ends the session. There is no partial credit and no retry on a live run.
Run the Index →Start a run — no setup needed
Hit "Run the Index" and a shuffled draw of the active S&P 500 pool begins immediately. The order is random every run so no sequence can be memorised.
Type the ticker from memory — 15 seconds per company
A company name appears on screen. Type the correct ticker symbol using the on-screen keyboard or your physical keys and press Enter. The answer is never shown in advance and is checked server-side. Punctuation is normalised, so BRK.B and BRKB both count.
One wrong answer ends the run
In Series 500, one wrong answer or timeout ends the run. A correct answer advances to the next company; a wrong answer or timeout reveals the missed ticker and ends the session. Your longest streak posts to the leaderboard and adds to your lifetime collection.

Frequently asked questions
- What is Series 500 — The 500 Club?
- Series 500 is a typed-input, sudden-death memory challenge. You are shown real S&P 500 company names one at a time in random order and must type the correct ticker symbol within 15 seconds. One wrong answer ends your run. The goal is the longest possible streak and, over time, naming every company in the index.
- Is Series 500 free to play?
- Yes. Series 500 is free to play on Ticker League. A free account lets you save your streak to the leaderboard and track your lifetime collection across sessions.
- How does sudden-death scoring work?
- Your run score is your streak — the number of consecutive correct answers before the first miss or timeout. Average response time across correct answers is the tiebreaker. Both are posted to the leaderboard after a run ends.
- What is the S&P 500 collection, and how is it different from the streak?
- The streak is your longest single run. The collection counts every distinct S&P 500 company you have ever correctly named across all runs. You can grow your collection over many sessions without needing to achieve a perfect single run.
- What is The 500 Club?
- The 500 Club is a lifetime achievement badge awarded when your collection includes every currently active company in the S&P 500 pool. Because you build it across unlimited runs, it rewards sustained knowledge rather than a single lucky session.
- Are dual-class tickers like GOOGL and GOOG both accepted?
- Yes. For companies with multiple share classes, both accepted variants are treated as correct. The answer checker normalises punctuation, so BRK.B and BRKB are the same answer.
No multiple choice. No hints. No second chances.
