What is dividend capture?

Dividend capture is a short-term trading strategy: buy a stock shortly before its ex-dividend date to receive the dividend, then sell once the price recovers. The realistic exit is a GTC limit-order at the pre-ex close — when the post-ex intraday high first touches that level, the order fills at break-even and the trader pockets the dividend. The trade is profitable only if that touch happens before transaction costs, slippage, and ordinary-income tax consume the after-tax dividend.

TransDigm Group (TDG) does not yet have enough recent ex-dividend events to publish reliable dividend-capture statistics. We require a minimum of four events within the past five years to calculate base rates, and at least six for medium-confidence metrics.
